Bio-energy and Bio-production Machinery are studied in the Laboratory of Biological and Mechanical Engineering. Current life styles and industries consuming large quantities of chemicals and fossil fuels will not be permitted, and reducing the load on the environment for the long term sustainability is required. Therefore, we study on the alternative fuels such as bio-ethanol, bio-diesel fuel and bio-gas, as well as energy production from marine biomass and life cycle assessment of the bio-fuels. We also study on the bio-production machinery. Navigation sensors for the agricultural vehicles and walking mechanisms for agricultural or forest robots are being developed. Objectives of the studies are improving the efficiency, production cost and the effects on the environment.
